Perform the evillest act ever known in the game!

You must follow all rules. You may use only your own character and a sidekick (no other NPC's); and the victim must be another player's character. Repeat: you must follow all the rules!

The winner takes two issues of Wayfarer from the store. (edit: subscribers may have their subs extended by 2 issues, or take 2 back issues if they like).

The contest runs until September 11, 2006 2007; no posts after that date count toward the contest.

Copy all relevant posts and email them to prodigy@mysteryandmagic.com no later than Sep.18, 2006 2007 (one week after closing).

Just your normal "fight" is hardly going to seem very evil. We want to see something truly villainous. And it runs til September because (a) 9/11 seems a nice date to close both contests and (b) you are really going to need plenty of time to conceive, plan, and execute this great evil deed. It also gives any player time to think and plan and scheme while waiting for the next 3 months until he gets another character ... and he'd want a villain to do this, right? (Unless you have a villain already.) So those of you currently playing heroes are not locked out of the competition. And hey, even heroes can commit astoundingly evil deeds. It all depends on circumstances.

Yes. The contest is for IN-GAME acts. You will not be able to pull this off with just a post or three. It will have to be a grand scheme to cause utter woe and anguish upon another character. I am thinking some kind of murderous betrayal would be the most dramatic ... but it's up to you. Do your worst. VILLAINS HITHER! ARISE AND WREAK SORROW!

Just consider it a puzzle! You should rise to the challenge, rather than try to make the contest conform to you.

ooh! More sneak peaks What i have in mind is, they will come up once a certain items of mass power has came to megatropolis to be displayed on the museum (or a high security facility) whichever is more interesting. That item shall have alot of power. Therefore will be stolen. yay. My charachter shall have a mech (i like mechs) that will use it as a power source. The mech will be able to use the power to convert it into portable energy, then converted into lightning sparks which shall be shot up in beams to make lightning!! YAY. Also other fun attacks shall come out of the mech. The Mech + Item needs a weakness. Well anyway, the gang shall be terrorizing the other part of city as well. Giving you no choice but to act in it. Meanwhile the items shall have a counter part. (that could be its weakness). Erago and git shall capture that and Erago's powers will be boosted. but so will his weaknesses (except the time limit). Now i must figure out what i can use fighters and how to make the citizens attack. Hmm maybe i shall cut off the police. or take control of them. OOOOOOOOOOOOOH AAAAAAAAAAAAAH

I thought a "mech" was a machine like a giant robot. That's not a power source. A mech needs a power source, like a fusion battery or a solar collector or a gas tank. And didn't I see somebody talking about using HELICOPTERS as power sources? The power source of a helicopter is its fuel (gasoline or diesel, I dunno what kind of engines they have). There should not be confusion between Machine and Powersource. It will make things really confusing.

This sounds like a heap of fun 'grins' a time to put all that anger and frustraton that builds up day b day to god use. To be honest I'd rather using anouther charecter because on the scale I'm thinking the charecter that pull's it off would be hated and probably killed. I'm thinking a horific torture scene which the villain then broadcasts on live television,sound on all phones and anywhere else even in newspapers by hacking into all the networks. It won't be the first time either. A whole spree of vicious slaughters of publicly known and respected people and pc's. or turning off all power in a hospital after injuring lots of people badly enough to end up in emergency wards that way life-suport would fail and they'd all die. setting fire to an orphanage in a violent rage same as above except a retirement home unleashing a flesh-eating virus in a new cerial that is activated by a non-toxic chemical in the milk which is virtually undetectabil until it is too late going on a random spree of destruction

Ah, but see, the beauty of this plan is it was acomplished IC, to an unsuspecting PC, not against a bunch of unnamed NPCs! And, it is completely repeatable, the PC ought to have no idea what was done to him. Anyone can post their character does something really horrid to NPCs, but to actually accomplish evil against an unsuspecting PC, well, few indeed have done so....

I have certain problems about Victor not noticing. Amber made any number of mistakes. Victor was never actually drunk, he knows approximately how much he paid during the evening (down to the nearest 100$ or so). Also, she should have taken the money and stayed until morning. Running away, or leaving, in this case, is always suspicious. We've all heard the stories about people being robbed during one-night-stands, unfortunately so has Victor. Plus, not noticing would get us into dramatic stagnation. It would be inconsequential, as you like to put it.

Sure, the character is the character, I was referring to the 'typical' result along the lines of a generic evil event for a contest entry. I know I have from time to time had less money in my wallet than I thought I had, and am pretty sure I was not robbed! When one goes out without a plan or budget, I think most people spend more than they intend or realize (part of the reason clubs and bars are so profitable, after all!). Plus, on this theme, even if Victor does keep fairly close track of his money, he cannot be certain who robbed him--someone at the club could have filched his wallet on the dance floor, for example, and lightened it in the same way, then slipped it back--there are a great many criminals out there with the skill to do this, it happens all the time. But, Victor is not a typical guy! Back in the day, we assumed Mastermind had contacts in the Las Vegas gaming industry, and when talking to one of them about a problem he had, he was told oh, they have this cute little brunette who can eliminate most men without suspicion. Being a cheapskate, or at least penny-wise and pound-foolish, Mastermind would not pay his contacts a finder's fee, but instead set up and elaboate scheme to have his minions canvas the ritzy clubs over several nights, picking up all the 'cute little brunettes' they found who answered they liked going to Las Vegas. Then there were even hidden cameras in the room, guys with guns hidden in the closets...Room 38D at the Razzmatazz was quite famous while the posts remained there! In a final twist of irony, the target Mastermind's henchmen gave her was totally unsuitable for her talents, but he died saving her... I would not think Victor has similar contacts, so logically he probably does not know of her other occupation. But perhaps he will be able to come up with some uses for her talents he does know about, part of the idea in creating her which has actually never happened was she could be a Moll to a suave criminal!

Being evil is actually really easy. Being creatively evil takes a little more talent - most especially if the one committing the crime also controls the police trying to stop it. Honestly I don't like this competition. I think it's against the principles of a game that is built upon co-operation rather than divisiveness. Personally I think we would all be better served by something that draws characters together. I think some general incident or condition that makes folks work together encourages the spirit of collaboration and is worthy of a prize. More worthy still would be something so interesting that new player would want to join the game.

Geesh, everyone's got a beef eh? I guess it's not one of those things that could work better in reverse, though I maintain being evil is a lot easier.... 1. Walk off with Amber's Bimmer and rig the rental system so she has to drive a Ford... or worse - take public transit! 2. Use a shrink ray on Kinetic's gitch (yowch) 3. Set a speed trap outside Cobalt's porch (I wonder how big a ticket you get going more than 100,000 times the speed limit eh?). 4. Set all Flux' clocks back 10 minutes 5. Convince "The Law" to vote Republican 6. Trick Dragos into wearing pink - "It's not pink its salmon honest!" 7. Get the tabloids to print that Veil was a former Spice Girl 8. Get Mujina to copy Michael Jackson's styles 9. Trick Crimson into becoming a Krishna 10. Get Banshee to pose for Playboy and then send an autographed copy to her grandma - ooo wouldn't the Vicar be cross! 11. Rip off Kensei's best katana and sell it on the Home Shopping Network 12. Pluck, then tar-and-feather Hatchet Feather Could ya have that much fun being a goody-two-shoes now? If anyone could make some nice act that was as much fun they are indeed worthy of a prize.
