Subways and Sewers

Prodigy: City Of Supers: Subways and Sewers

Always bustling with activity, the subways are the quickest and cheapest way to get around the city. Trains come and go with precision timing and stop at all major locales.

The sewers however are not usually bustling with activity, not of the Human kind any way.

Sewer (Thing)

Sewer's tail twitched as got a slim grip on the other agents. It was clear there was a definite trend to the unusual, he'd fit right in.

There was organization and structure, a delineation of rank. Maybe he'd finally found the good kind of allies, the kind with money and protection. Sewer nodded. "People don't react well to people like us, Corporal, I've been there before. I'm Sewer Thing."

Deputy Carp (Carp)

"Corporal Hazz" said the blue agent and offered his hand. That’s lieutenant Swift there he said pointing to the creature with the eye stalks. “Hate to cut the intros short but it looks like we’re just about ready to di-di mau."

A completely naked woman strode confidently from the shadows and nodded to her fellow agents. She lifted an eyebrow when her gaze fell across Sewer and Carp. “They coming with us?” she asked, flicking a lock of long black hair from her eyes. The lieutenant nodded and his team quickly gathered crouching behind the woman. Hazz waived for Carp and Sewer to join them and do the same just as the naked agend raised her arms over her head.

Sewer (Thing)

Sewer threw his lot fully in with the Area 51 folks, joining the small group.

<<following Carp>>

((Whereabouts are you going to create Area 51, Carp?))

Deputy Carp (Carp)

A strong wind blew through the tunnel and a bright light appeared in the wall in front of the female who remained with her arms above her head. As Carp ran behind her obediently, a cloud of purple smoke filled the air followed by as sound which could have been a Jimmy Hendrix guitar solo. The agents behind her ran into the light. Carp gave a nervous glance back at Sewer Thing then bolted forward disappearing into the smoke and light. The last sound in the tunnel was Hassan’s yelp. It was the last any would see or hear of him.

In Darkness And Shadow Lurks The (Umbra)

After a longer chorus of noise, the aged barrier between a forgotten part of the sewer system and the part remembered fell. Dump trucks rolled through loaded with tools and equipment for the job ahead while the driver of the lead vehicle consulted a blueprint as a map.

In Darkness And Shadow Lurks The (Umbra)

The convoy once more set into motion, navigating the various turns and twists of the sewer system until the rumbling snake stopped once more. Above and oblivious as to what occured beneath their very feet, citizens walked about West Street wrapped in a world of their own devising.

The lead of this secret group clambored out of his truck, a signal to his team to do the same. Everyone knew their part in this caper, and set about getting tools and equipment in place and ready. The head dog had to admit that so far the Boss' plan was going just as smoothly as promised. The blueprints had been current and up to date, fake papers provided verifying a legit crew working on a city appointed project, and aside from a suit complete with tie, the musing ex-con carried with him a badge and ID. More than enough to fend off anyone who might come by, such as a sewer worker or bum.

Jackhammers tips were placed against the passage's wall, and work began.

In Darkness And Shadow Lurks The (Umbra)

As dirt was removed for the dig site, it was loaded into the trucks and hualed away by the shipyard exit. Any who saw would of course assume it was part of the construction, and this was part of the plan. It wasn't quick work, but in time the steel wall of the Casino Royale vault was reached. Their task done, the jack hammers were stored away while cutting torches were made ready. This step was more delicate, the cuts had to be almost deep enough to go all the way through, but not quite. Meanwhile, other members of the crew were busy placing charges a mile in length in either direction of the sewer line while a couple others worked to uncover the underground power lines.

Anonymous

Above the sat the contents of the vault.. cash to cover the casino's active bets, jewels and valuables of the highest of high rollers, and in a separate section, old, unclaimed items deemed valuable enough to store, though not readily identified. Among these is a rough cut glass bottle, purple in color, with a narrow neck and somewhat misshapen flared base. It looks old, though not particularly valuable, and has been in the vault for just over a month, waiting for the estate of it's former owner to be settled after he died while gambling.

Genie in a Bottle (Genie)

Inside her bottle, Genie briefly turns herself back into her human form (having just been a throw pillow), sensing a disturbance out of the ordinary. While she can not 'see' outside her bottle, she can sense when someone is near, and the sensations she is getting now, are unlike those when guards come in to make deposits or pick up items. She sits crosslegged insider her bottle, waiting, her current form less than an inch tall.

In Darkness And Shadow Lurks The (Umbra)

Everyone knew their part and place, it had been drilled into each head present. This was it, the one and only shot to pull off one of the biggest hiests the city above had ever seen. One mistake, one single botch on anyone's part and they'd leave empty handed. Worse yet, they'd have to tell the boss, and that was not a well favored idea for anyone.

It was time.

First, the underground power cables to the casino were cut to cause a blackout. In the precious few moments before generators kicked in, three cutting torches went to work to finish a makeshift door into the vault. The first man through was the best shot on the team, and while whe was involved in his roll of the caper others got into position for theirs.

(OOC:

Royal Casino Vault)

Genie in a Bottle (Genie)

She feels herself and her bottle handled, being transported, but into a dark and dank place, not into the casino... surmizing her master either left her, died, or some other calamity has befallen him. Oh well, he was not much for her magic and always seemed resentful she could do no more. Maybe whoever has stolen her will open the bottle and be more willing to play with what she can do.

In Darkness And Shadow Lurks The (Umbra)

The crooks wasted not a second of the time they had at hand. Dump trucks wereshifted into gear, and the convo headed off at the highest speeds allowed in the confines of the sewer lines. After the vehicles had cleared two miles, the head thug flipped a switch and set off a series of planted charges that brought down many tons of wreckage and ruin within a mile in either underground direction of the casino. By the time it was cleared out and rescue crews were done, there'd be no hope of finding evidence linked to the robbery.

(OOC:

To The Outskirts and Disused Sewer Line)

Genie in a Bottle (Genie)

She relaxes as a bit as the motion of her bottle settles, though she senses a rumbling from outside, she considers turning into some other form to wait, but instead reurns herself to fully human, though for good measure she reduces her mass, her apparent weight to zero, and Newton's Laws of Motion stop applying to her.

Genie in a Bottle (Genie)

((ooc to disused sewer line))

Mathilda McDouglas (Mathilda)

Mathilda pushed the bike down into the sewer over the ruble looking around. There was to much running water to follow a trail well, only in particularly thick areas could tracks of vehicles be seen...

She laughed some though, seams who ever it was that was down here was in a hurry and in there rush the tires had kicked up quite a mess down the tunnel. "I take that back, we might be able to follow them after all if they keep that speed up all the way... if not hopefully they went fast enough long enough to give us an idea of what direction they where headed in." She shook her head getting the bike down the rest of the way. Distractions are a good way to get away, but she was going to show these that killing dozens and hurting hundreds was not worth it.

Bladesman (Bladesman)

He keeps the motor on his bike from revving too much, since the higher pitch of his bike would travel all too well down here, but he sees what she saw from above more clearly from down here. "You're right, and whoever did this shows a complete disregard for life... reminds me of someone I know" he grimaces.. "You should lead, since your eye seems better to pick up the trail...and besides, ladies first" he smiles, but then his face goes blank... remembering his fiance.

Mathilda McDouglas (Mathilda)

(didn't say that out loud ... should use collor for talk but i'm tired and lazy >.>)

Mathilda's hopes of following a trail ended as headlights approached, attached to emergency vehicles. A number of humans were filling the underground passages too, rushing about in hopes of attending to the various screams and cries for help that drifted in differing volumes through the air. A little girl of roughly six was walking through the tunnel, half her head red, grubby fingers clutching tightly to a filthy bear some more fortunate child had seen fit to disgard. Another homeless, this one a man, sat slumped against a wall with mouth open in a silent scream as he stared at the crimson stretch of cloth where just recently an arm had been attached.

Whomever had thought this little bit of hell on Earth up appeared to have put some level of thought behind it, as between the rushing paniced wounded, the aid that came and the heavy equipment that brought them aany evidence not covered by dust and wreckage was well trampled and distorted.

Bladesman (Bladesman)

Bladesman is taken aback by the carnage, momentarily blanking, his emotions a wreck as he starts to slip into a bipolar episode. He concentrates, trying to make sense, to focus, moving about aimlessly.... until a thought enters his mind, driving out all else, giving him some ability to regain composure and control: Grayblade. This type of despicable act is just the sort of coldly indifferent evil perpetrated by him, and maybe he is involved. Thus steeled, he too now realizes the futility of the evidence trail, but gets out his Blackberry, connecting to the net and accessing records of old sewer projects, finding a few disused lines... the sort of thing no one would notice or care about, but two of them connect to this tunnel, and are opposite the casino. He saves the map onscreen and goes to the woman.

"Hey.... well, er, sorry, you can call me Bladesman... if you like, but I might have something. The trail is dead cold, but there are two disused tunnel access points down this way. If we base this off a heist at the Casino, then either of these two tunnels might be just the escape route criminals might use to empty the vault. I know it's thin, but better than nothing. Any thoughts on your end?"

Mathilda McDouglas (Mathilda)

She growled a little under her breath. "Shut the hell up." This place was loud enugh with out some guy blabing in her ear..

She turned off her bike and concentrated, wising she could turn her organic eye, and her ears off. She tried to focus on the ebbs and flows of energies in the area.... there was to much life around and in the tunnels to follow the faint trail people leave behind, and to much filth to follow the energy the vehicular had.... but maybe if she was luck she could feel out or maybe even see there energy if they had used something with a significantly strong powersorce... or maybe a really powerful 'magical' being.

It was a long shot normally, but high powered beings abound in this city... maybe one was involved in the robbery.

((I don't know if the bottle hides her energy or not, and I don't know if umbra gave off enugh while all dead like to be noticed))

Bladesman (Bladesman)

He does so, annoyed, and figuring this is one super, or at least one being who operates best alone and left alone...he goes back to his bike, starting it, it's motor a much softer and lower thrum at idle than any american or japanese bike. He rides it through the rubble, toward a disused sewer line, one of the two he saw on his map, shaking his head as he follows back to the surface, meeting this disused tunnel near the shhipyards....

((ooc to disused sewer line, outskirts))

((ooc note: the bottle would allow someone to sense the presence of magic if they had a fairly advanced ability to sense such things..however, the genie's magic is limited to herself, so the range at which it can be sensed, and the trace it would leave would be minimal))

Mathilda McDouglas (Mathilda)

She growls a bit, she can sense something but it's to faint to get any lead on it... and she can't stand to see all this and not do something.

She decided to follow bladesman, maybe he knows something she didn't.
